What are meta tags and Open Graph tags?
They are short lines in a page's <head> that other sites read. Google shows thetitle and meta description in search results. When someone shares the link, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp and Slack read the Open Graph tags (og:title,og:description, og:image) to draw the card with a picture.
How to check a page before you share it
Choose Paste HTML, open your page, view its source (Ctrl+U, or ⌘+Option+U on a Mac), copy it and paste it here. The previews and the checks update at once. Or use Fill in to plan the tags for a new page, then copy the ready-made block into your <head>.
What sizes work best?
- Title: 30–60 characters. Longer titles are cut off in search results.
- Description: 70–160 characters, written as one clear sentence about the page.
- Share image: 1200 × 630 pixels (PNG or JPEG), given as a full
https://address. Keep text big and in the middle: some apps crop the edges.
Why does my old image still show after I changed it?
Sites remember a card for days. After changing the tags, ask them to look again: LinkedIn's Post Inspector and Facebook's Sharing Debugger both have a "scrape again" button.
Is my HTML uploaded?
No. The tool reads what you paste in your browser and never fetches the page, so nothing leaves your device.
